Works on the cultural influences of one civilization upon another are entered under the affected civilization with appropriate subdivision, e.g. Japan--Civilization--Western influences; Civilization, Medieval--Jewish influences; Civilization, Slavic--French influences. Works on the culture of individual ethnic groups are entered under the name of the group.

Works on the civilization of an individual place are entered under the name of the place with the subdivision Civilization, e.g. United States--Civilization.
